The Rictusempra Challenge
When attempting any of the spell challenges, remember that to get full house points you need to move fast. Stopping to
grab cards or uncover secrets will slow you down. It's best to run through once, getting all the secrets, and then go
through again as fast as you can, to get the points. Beating each challenge as it becomes available will ensure you have
easily enough time in the Bonus Bean Room to grab all the beans you can.
From the start, run straight forwards and stun the fire crab. Knock it into the pit in the middle of the room to open
the way forward. Run on and get the first star. In the next room, stun the fire crab and knock it into the hole at the far
end of the wooden platform. Stand on the platform while it raises and jump off the end to reach the next room. *There is a
BWC in the chest at the other end of the platform.*
Knocking the snails in this room into the two holes will lower the stars and open the way forward. Push the blocks with
Flipendo and jump on them to reach the stars. To get on the tall block you need to push the shorter one round the corner
and use that as a step. *If you knock each of the four fire crabs to the back of their alcoves, a chest will lower from
the ceiling containing a SWC.*
Run on out of the room. *The snails will give you beans if you knock them into the alcoves, and the gnome will give you
beans if you stun him and throw him into the gnome hole. The first secret is behind the portrait of Lockhart halfway up
the stairs.*
When you run into the wooden floored corridor, the floor will fall away. Knock both fire crabs into the back of their
alcoves to raise it and continue. *Again, the snails will give you beans if you knock them into the alcoves.*
In the next room, stun the fire crabs and knock them into the alcoves to lower the walls. Climb the left wall, and cast
Lumos on the gargoyle behind the portrait of Lockheart. The fourth star is in the wall nearby. Drop back down and climb
the other wall. *There is a secret reached by casting Flipendo on the button high up in the wall near the way out of this
room.*
Collect the fifth star and cast Flipendo on the bar to continue.
In the next room are three buttons and three circles around the room showing pictures of Lockheart. The three doors are
opened by lining up the same picture as is on the door on all three bands above the door. From when you enter the room
this is the best sequence to hit the buttons in: Lowest button twice and highest once to open the right hand door, go
through and stand on the footprints to lower the star in the main room. Middle button three times will then open the left
hand door, again go through and stand on the footprints to lower the star. Grab the star and hit the middle button twice
and the highest button twice to open the way forward.
Run on, and stand on the footprints for the lift to take you upwards. *Cast Lumos on the gargoyle, run past the snails
which will of course give you beans if you knock them into the alcoves, and you can see a secret in the right hand wall.
Further on there is another secret behind the portrait of Lockheart.*
When you get to the pit with large stone steps around the edges below you, turn left and use the stones to get to the
other side of the pit. Once across, you need to knock the fire crab into the small pit to open the exit. Run on past the
snails, round the corners and up the stairs to get the next star.
Continue forward and you will reach a room where metal gates drop in front and behind, trapping you between the fire
crabs which fall from the ceiling. Knock both crabs into the far wall on their side of the room to raise the gates, and
grab the next star. *Continue on and you will see a save game book. To the right there is a Flipendo symbol high up on the
wall which hides a secret.*
Past the save game book is the final room, with a spiral ramp up which you must run to get to the finish. First knock
two fire crabs into the pit in the middle of the room and jump in after them. Cast Flipendo on the portrait and it will
swing upwards, letting you past. *Halfway up these stairs is a portrait with a secret behind it.*
The last star is at the top of the stairs, and you can cast Alohomora to move the wall behind it and let you back out
to the spiral ramp. You need to knock two more fire crabs into the central pit to lower the finish star enough. When it's
low enough you can just run up the ramp, avoiding the pistons in the walls, and finish the Rictusempra challenge.
