Harry Potter: The books and movies

Infatuated with the Harry Potter games’ success, we tend to forget about the books! Indeed, before the movies came about, the gaming industry took interest in Harry Potter through the books. J.K Rowling did an amazing job at portraying the different adventures and magical elements that come with Harry Potter. The author revolutionized the witch and magician stereotype that we were used to. She gave magic a well-needed lift, and we have all fallen for it. Therefore, we are going to pay tribute to the written materials that allowed us to get acquainted with Harry Potter, which also inspired the biggest cinema studios to bring Harry Potter on to the big screen!

The Harry Potter books

The Harry Potter adventure and worldwide phenomenon started with the books. J.K. Rowling put on paper the extravagant fantasy novels, giving the first role to a young wizard in the making. Everyone has had one of the Harry Potter books at some point. However, did you know that the first book to come out was Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 1997? The second book was entitled Harry Potter and the Chambers of Secrets in 1998. Our ultimate favorite chapter was undoubtedly the third book, which was Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in 1999. You could then see the characters in place and growing into wizard masters. Plus, the plot got thicker and the alliances started to be put in place. Also, this book brought to life many secrets that we started to get for granted in the later books. The fourth novel was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2000), and the fifth was Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2003). It took three years for the book to come out, and many fans were convinced that J.K. Rowling was putting down the gloves. However, in 2005, she stroke back with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Then in 2007, we were pleased to welcome Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. All the books were followed by movies respectively within the year of the book’s launch.

The Harry Potter movies

Indeed, the movies have been following each ones of the books throughout. The actors chosen became icons instantly such as: Daniel Radcliff, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. However, the tragic death of Richard Harris, who played Dumbledore in the different movies, was a tragedy for the fans. The British Academy Film Awards has saluted repeatedly the outstanding performances of homegrown movie stars. On the commercial front, J.K. Rowling accepted to sell the saga’s rights to Warner Bros. who then took over the production of each and every Harry Potter movies. Although the last movie and book came out in 2007, J.K. Rowling has a surprise in store for all the fans. Indeed, 2016 should mark the return of Harry Potter and all his friends! You will be able to enjoy the latest chapter Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on the big screen!
